Okay so really quickly two distinct memories I have of this song, which is wonderful by the way.
First: Little Dan and I had been hanging out with these kids for weeks, and as a wide eyed freshman, I naturally fell in love with one of them. Almost daily we would trek 20 minutes across campus to smizz and drizz with them. The walks back were getting colder and eventually walking turned into driving, which wasn’t much help since it was at least a 7 minute walk to and from my car. One night, I finally got with the kid. Dan and I returned to the parking lot and right as we pulled in, this song was blaring over the speakers. We sat there and savored the moment, full volume of course, singing every word as loud as we could. I floated home from Farmer Browns that night. Victory. I look back on that now and it definitely epically pathetic but at the same time completely satisfying. I miss the days of Hartford Hall.
Second: Once again little Dan and I were on an adventure to Jersey, this time accompanied by Kelly. We were going to see Dispatch live, which we had waited for for months. It was over one hundred degrees that day, and I’m not just saying that, it literally was. After the two hour car ride (which turned into 2 1/2 since we could not find the stadium for the life of use, endless circles) we arrived and started to tailgate. Admittedly not the best idea since drinking completely dehydrates you and we didn’t exact stock up on nonalcoholic beverages. So finally we made it into the stadium (quite early, mind you) and entered the GA section. We were fucking fifth row. It was going to be amazing. Unfortunately the band was late, I’m talking like almost an hour late. And the heat showed no signs of breaking. Once they started playing we forgot all about the wait and danced until we literally could not dance anymore. Especially in the case of little Dan. All of a sudden she looks at me, her eyes actually BUGGING out of her head and says “I can’t see”. Instant shock came over me as Kelly and I attempted to get her out of the crowd (now probably 50 rows deep). Then poor little Dan just collapses. Kelly grabs a water bottle out of some random dude’s hand and Dan kinda just pours it on herself. Then she pops up like nothing happens and goes, “That was weird”. Meanwhile, my anti-ridden self is like having a heart attack. We finally make it out alive and sit down in the very back of the GA section. The second we sit down, Flying Horses (which we had all been waiting for comes on). It was perfect. Completely took away the trauma of the previous 10 minutes and once again we were dancing (this time slightly less violently in fear of another episode). Awesome.
Side note: The ride home was just as insane, passing through the same toll four times (thank god for EasyPasses) just to get to a Burger King, taking forever to get back to Somers, and ending the mini vacation with getting ice cream at 11 the next morning. Delish.
